Stamp Out Hunger! New Philanthropy Idea!

Thank you to our Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter sisters for the following idea! If you'd like more information, you can visit the United States Postal Service website at http://www.usps.com/communications/community/fooddrive.htm or the Help Stamp Out Hunger Website at http://www.helpstampouthunger.com/.

Dear Sisters,

The Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter invites you to take part in a philanthropy WITHOUT an event. In case you haven't seen our phrase "POST" before, it stands for something the Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter invented: Philanthropic Opportunity Separate, yet Together!

Alumnae often WANT to do more philanthropies, but just cannot make it to physical events. So what we do is look for events around town (or even the country) that every alum can take part in wherever she lives. This is one of them (coat and blanket drives in the fall are another).

The U.S. Postal Service Canned Food Drive will be Saturday, May 12. All you need to do is take a few of those extra cans or boxes of food from your closet, put them in a bag, and place them near your mailbox on Saturday, May 12. That's it. You will also be getting a postcard from the post office as a reminder with recommendations - no glass containers, for example.

Food is given to a local food pantry WHEREVER you live. It is an easy event that everyone can take part in - we invite you to share this with your members!

Thanks with love,

The Las Vegas Alumnae Chapter

Earn Money for the Foundation Every Time You Search the Internet!

What if the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can!

GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.

Just go to http://www.goodsearch.com/ and be sure to enter Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word!

GoodSearch: You Search...We Give!

Realizing a Dream Through the Leadership Conferences!

The Foundation had a wonderful time the past few months attending each of the five Leadership Conferences. We had the opportunity to meet wonderful and enthusiastic collegians and re-connect with some of our alumnae.

After the Chicago Leadership Conference, Barb, one of our Theta alumnae ('83) wrote this wonderful message to her Theta sisters.

Hi all - I attended the evening reception and Foundation Dinner this past weekend. I met some of the national officers and our headquarters staff and they are great. It's taken me 45 years but I was finally able to attend my first "International Event." You will be pleased to know that several Theta women led a room full of 200 + college girls in the "Dinner Song" -- How special!

After seeing a presentation on the "Transplant Games" that the Foundation helped sponsor, I felt compelled to make my first contribution to the Foundation. If you are like me, you may not have given the Foundation's mailers a lot of attention--I hope you will re-consider. The college girls are doing alot and giving alot of $ and maybe we can too. You can learn more about the foundation at http://www.phisigmasigmafoundation.org/index.htm.

And if you want to cut to the chase and make a donation, the link is: https://www.phisigmasigmafoundation.org/donate/donation.php.

Thank you Barb, and all of our alumnae, who joined us at the Foundation receptions we sponsored in Baltimore, Newark, Bakersfield, Albany and Chicago! The Foundation is so grateful for the amazing support we receive from our collegians, alumnae and friends!
