From the second our executive board saw the video at the Leadership Conference, we knew our chapter had to volunteer for the Transplant Games this year in Pittsburgh. By the conclusion of the video, we were frantically whispering potential plans back and forth to each other in excitement. With less than a week to go before the commencement of the Games, that feeling is not only prominent, but palpable. Sisters made t-shirts at our summer sisterhood retreat in preparation to represent Phi Sig in blue and gold letters!
The idea of a road trip is always one that girls giggle about and wish would happen while the time for planning passes without a thought. Our chapter has had our finger on the pulse of our planning since our whisperings at the Leadership Conference. It goes to show how excited a group of women are about something when the planning is easy and the idea actually takes flight. When all is said and done, the eight hour drive seems like the smallest of hurdles.
Some of our sisters will be arriving early for the Pirates game to meet a sister who is living with her family in Pittsburgh this summer. Others will be driving out after they finish their day at their internships on Friday evening to arrive in the early hours of the morning. The events sound like so much fun – bowling, racquetball, swimming, ping pong and others. We are excited to learn more about the sports and the Games, but nothing will compare to the friends we make along the way. I am personally interested in hearing the stories that brought these heroic athletes to the Games. It is guaranteed to be a weekend full of inspiration, tears, fun and laughter.

Hillary

Wow! That was such an awesome post. I can't wait to hear from more collegians at the Games.
I'll be checking back often so I hope there are lots of posts about what everyone is doing.
