I'm a lifetime believer in this...

Wow! I have waited two years to experience the Transplant Games again. For me, it has made the whole idea of philanthropic work come to life, and I couldn’t wait to return to volunteer for the games here in Pittsburgh!

For years, Phi Sigma Sigma has quietly supported the National Kidney Foundation through the work of its collegians and alumnae across the country. The chapters have created fundraisers that have netted thousands of dollars. The monies raised have supported informative brochures, camps, Things with Wings projects, and many more things associated with NKF.

But, for me, the Kidney Foundation has come to life through my introduction to the Games two years ago. Making that connection has opened my eyes to transplantation and how vitally important this cause is to the thousands of people across the country who are patiently awaiting an organ transplant. I now understand – no – I GET IT!! I now understand how critically important the programs and research are to this cause. It has made me a lifetime believer.

Meeting organ donors and recipients, meeting the families that support both, seeing them meet – maybe even for the first time – is an emotional moment. It’s one that I'm seeing and re-living again here in Pittsburgh at the 2008 U. S. Transplant Games.

Go Phi Sigs! Thank you to the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation for its continued support of the National Kidney Foundation and the U.S. Transplant Games. I am really glad I could be here this weekend to support the work that you are doing.
