Wendy Lau- ' I feel truly grateful...'
From: Wendy M. Lau, Theta Upsilon Alumna ‘98
I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am to be at the 2008 U. S. Transplant Games! Not only is it an amazing opportunity to meet and reconnect with various Phi Sigma Sigma sisters from around the country, the event itself is a phenomenal testament to the celebration of life. It is hard not to be in awe of the many donor-recipient athletes, the donors, and the donor families. Every person’s story is unique and serves to underscore how important organ transplantation truly is. From the story about a Phi Sigma Sigma sister donating her kidney to her father to the 2-year-old who received a liver transplant at seven months, the indomitability of the human spirit cannot be denied.
I feel truly grateful to be able to be a part of the Transplant Games this year as a volunteer through Phi Sigma Sigma because it reaffirms my belief that I made the absolute right choice when I decided to join this organization! Although I have friends and coworkers that don’t quite understand my continued involvement with my sorority, it is opportunities such as this (as well as the amazing women I advise and the sister-friends that I’ve made and met throughout the years, of course! I love you, Theta Upsilon!) that make it all worthwhile!
